Essen Strasse; Findlay Market
What people think...
I did a digital page with that as the theme. Actually it was along the line that it makes no difference what people think. Of you. I have to admit that I use that philosophy all the time.
Like this photo. I just like it. I like the lines and the vibrancy of the buildings. I shoot what "I" want to see. It might not be your average photo people take.

It's a shame there are so many power lines in this. That is one problem that I run into - a lot.
There is no way to get this shot without them.

They interfere.
They are hard to clean up.
Why can't they put the lines underground!?

Do they not know that I don't want them in my shots??
hahahaaa

I feel that way sometimes about cars and even people when they get in the scene or viewfinder.
Most of the time it is ok. I had thought of taking the power lines out and then decided that they there when I shot the image so I left them in. But it's a real pain to work with them. The area is interesting to me and I love shooting images there while walking around. Some days are just better than others.

  1. I have to admit that wires across streets bothered me when I first came to Montreal. OMG, all the power lines out in the open and ugly. Somehow I guess I got used to it and don't care anymore. Actually this photo is great, it does not show the lines at all. Or maybe I am losing my sight, haha, but no, it's not bad at all. I wonder if you are not too critical of yourself ?

  2. You know, in a shot like this, I think the power lines fit right in. They are a part of the older urban landscape, just like the brickwork and art on the sides of the buildings. I don't appreciate the intrusion of electrical poles and wires into a nature shot or say, a lovely old church. Here, I feel they belong. I like the colorful facades of the structures and the view down the sidewalk without another soul in sight.
